Terms and Conditions
Each client will usually have their own bespoke requirements however, theses conditions
outline the starting parameters and will be adhered to unless otherwise agreed.
Dance Vision Limited (DVUK) specialise in filming young performers in theatres and other venues in dance, music and performing arts.
Before filming takes place it is on the understanding that out clients have parental consent for all young performers.
General agreement
In the interest of child safety all video footage captured is owned jointly between DVUK and it’s client/s. Therefore video footage cannot be released without mutual consent. Furthermore, DVUK maintains the policy of never releasing any video footage other than to or on behalf of its client. The client will receive a copy of the footage based upon the original agreed format/s (usually a finished edited version in digital format as a file, DVD or Bluray disc).
The only exception to this that has arisen as a result of modern viewing methods is for on-demand viewers where tiny clips are assembled to create trailers. Trailers are usually no more than two minutes long and are an amalgamation of tiny clips from a performance used to provide an introduction to the on-demand shop. This information should be disclosed when seeking consent.
Our client as joint owner is free to use video footage in any way it chooses including social media, website and educational use however should not do so until the minimum period and sales have been met in accordance with agreed purchasing arrangements. DVUK must warn that shows usually contain prerecorded music and they need to be aware that sharing music requires a copyright license from PRS or the owner.
Points to consider
Before filming takes place please discuss and arrange for suitable positions to place cameras. The standard show setup is for 2 cameras however, depending on sales expectations and previous client experience shows that expect in excess of 50 sales will be set up with between 3 and 5 cameras.
Sound is important for filming and will require microphones so it is important to discuss and consider what provisions are available with the theatre or venue. Live music performances are especially important, many theatres are excellent at setting sound up for their audience but often forget that drums that make their own noise and might be loud enough for a live audience also need a microphone to be heard on film.
After filming depending on existing workload it takes between two and four weeks to create the first edit. A copy will be made available for the client to view. It is important that the client checks the edit carefully as it is their opportunity to give feedback, make changes and check for any errors in either production or graphics and spellings etc. The feedback is actioned, checked until a final version is created. DVUK currently use Vimeo for on-demand purchases. If hard copies are required there are DVD or Bluray discs available.
